Is Johnny Manziel’s CFL Chance Here at Last?

Duane Forde of TSN tweeted earlier today that Manziel to the Alouette’s was a done deal.

ESPN also reported on Sunday that the “Hamilton Tiger-Cats have traded quarterback Johnny Manziel to the Montreal Alouettes” as part of a five-player deal.

After last week’s game apparently the Ti-Cats realized they needed to boost their defense and supplement their receiving corps. In return for Manziel and Tony Washington (offensive tackle) and Landon Rice (offensive lineman) the Ti-Cats received Jamaal Westerman (defensive end), Chris Williams (wide receiver) and first-round picks in 2020 and 2022.

 

In Montreal, Johnny will be joining former Texas A&M Coach, Mike Sherman. Sherman was on staff when Manziel was first recruited to College Station, although Manziel never played for him, as Sherman was replaced with Kevin Sumlin.

The quarterback job isn’t necessarily Johnny’s as there are three QB’s on staff already.  Jeff Mathews, Matt Shiltz and Drew Willy have all played for the Alouette’s so far this season, leaving their team in the last place in the East Division with only one win and four losses.

Les Tiger-Cats de Hamilton ont échangé le quart-arrière Johnny Manziel aux Alouettes de Montréal dans le cadre d’une entente de cinq joueurs.

Après le match de la semaine dernière, apparemment les Ti-Cats ont réalisé qu’ils avaient besoin de renforcer leur défense.

À Montréal, Johnny se joindra à Mike Sherman, ancien entraîneur de Texas A & M. Sherman faisait partie du personnel lorsque Manziel a été recruté pour la première fois à College Station.
