Pro Day for the Pro?

Johnny Manziel made a buzz at the University of San Diego’s pro day event held on March 22.

One might be wondering how Johnny came to be included in the USD Pro Day, but there is a simple answer.  According to Ben Brunnschweiler, USD’s director of football operations, Manziel has been working out with several USD players, Ross Dwelley, Jack Flatau, Jonathan Petersen, and Justin Priest along with QB whisperer, George Whitfield, Jr.

“They asked if they could include him in pro day,” Brunnschweiler said. “It’s USD’s pro day, so the purpose is to showcase our players for the scouts.”

That’s one way to do it! 😉

Fernando Ramirez (with NBC San Diego) shared several clips of Johnny throwing to the various receivers and tight ends.

 

 

According to Adam Schefter, Manziel had about 38 throwing opportunities, with two misses in light rain conditions. Those in attendance called it a “Strong Day.”

There were 13 teams (including the Cleveland Browns) in attendance.  The other teams in attendance were:  Bears, Buccaneers, Chargers, Chiefs, Giants, Jaguars, Jets, Lions, Panthers, Patriots, Raiders, and  Titans.

Manziel is preparing for his appearance in The Spring League, near Austin, TX which starts practicing in about a week.  The Spring League Games will take place April 7th and April 14th in Round Rock, TX at Kelly Reeves Stadium.

Johnny later took some time to answer questions (also from Fernando Ramirez with NBC San Diego) afterwards … He sounded great and looked like he is dealing with allergies like the rest of us — load up on Zyrtec-D now, Johnny — Cedar Fever is eating us up in Texas!
