Are you ready for a possible Johnny Football comeback?

It is an exciting time for Manziel fans as JFF comeback talk picks up more and more steam!

And Johnny has been right there in the thick of things, tantalizing us with cryptic hints, a little chitchat and some videos on Insta (@JManziel2) and Twitter (@JManziel2)!

After working out for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in August, Johnny (who turned 25 in December 2017) recently received the go-ahead from Canadian Football League (CFL) officials to accept a contract.

“After an extensive process of due diligence and an in-person meeting with Mr. Manziel, the Commissioner has decided that Mr. Manziel will be eligible to sign a contract for the 2018 season and, if Mr. Manziel meets certain conditions that have been spelled out by the Commissioner, the CFL will register that contract.  The specifics of those conditions are confidential and will not be disclosed. The CFL has extended the stay on the expiry of the 10-day window for Mr. Manziel until Nov. 30, 2017 and therefore Mr. Manziel will remain on Hamilton’s negotiation list until that date.”

Quite a lot has happened since then and the Ti-Cats will have until January 31st to decide on whether to sign, trade or release him. Manziel will remain on the Ti-Cat’s negotiation list for another year even if he declines the contract.

The Ti-Cats recently confirmed that negotiations have started with Manziel, and the team issued this statement:

“As per the negotiation list process, Johnny Manziel and his agent recently notified the Tiger-Cats that they had activated the 10-day window during which the Tiger-Cats must offer him a contract or lose his negotiation list rights. That window closed today and we can confirm that we made an offer to Manziel, and that his rights will remain on our negotiation list while discussions with he and his agent continue. We will have no further comment.”

Johnny’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, also confirmed that Manziel is in the process of negotiating with the Ti-Cats.  Burkhardt said:

“Johnny wants to let Hamilton fans know where things stand and that he has been working hard in preparation for his comeback.” He went on to say that Manziel is positive about negotiating a mutually beneficial agreement and that he is hoping for a contract similar to those that issued in the past.

Burkhardt concluded by stating: “If we cannot reach a deal with Hamilton by this date, we will turn our focus to several other professional options readily available to us.”

June Jones, coach for the Hamilton Ti-Cats is equally hopeful and excited about Manziel. Jones was quoted on the league’s official site:  “He can throw it and he can run it like nobody ever has been able to do. I think he’d be the best player to ever play up here.”

Later Jones elaborated:

“I could plug him in very, very easily. His arm strength is much better than I thought it was. I really think if he makes a commitment to come up here for three or four years that he’ll write his own ticket if he wants to go play in the NFL again. It’ll be a Warren Moon situation, to be quite honest. I think he has the potential to be a great football player.”

So now we await developments to see if JFF might have a new home in the CFL … and speaking of developments …

Manziel’s latest brainchild is a line of clothes featuring his iconic #2 along with some of his more notable symbology, like the memorable “2” reminiscent of his Texas A&M jersey, (sometimes combined with a dollar sign), as well as his now famous “SZN” fingers (some tagged the “money sign”) styled on sleeves.

Manziel also fielded a question on Twitter from a fan requesting to bring the “money sign” back in 2018 to which Manziel replied: “It should have never died #MoneySZN.”

Johnny’s new Comeback$ZN Store offers clever garments ( hoodies, tees, and hats) and other items (signed posters), some of which can be bundled at a discount and there is even an option to pay extra to have the item autographed by JFF.

There has been quite a lot of positive feedback with regards to the new merchandise, including a hat request from Joe Thomas (Offensive Tackle for the Cleveland Browns) in which Johnny responded that the GOAT “gets whatever he wants” … maybe the whole Comeback$ZN package?  Sweet!

 

The accolades and excitement have continued in a positive fashion. Johnny has received well over 10,000 likes on his Twitter posts alone.  In addition to this astounding response, hopeful fans and supporters have been chiming in with support as well.  Many are thrilled that Johnny may have the chance to play for the CFL, especially in light of the drama the NFL has allowed in recent years.

Adding his voice to the chorus, Tim Brewster, the recently hired (tight end) coach for Texas A&M, also expressed his enthusiasm for a Manziel comeback in a tweet, “Watch and see what happens when @JManziel2 gets back on the grass … #EpicComeback!”

Johnny has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support by tweeting “From College Station all the way to Australia you guys have shown more love than I ever thought. I appreciate everyone that rocks with me and this movement. The best is yet to come.”

And the JFFaithful can’t wait either!
