Dallas and Dan

Dallas News:  Truth vs. Fiction …
Sorting the truth from fiction on the Cowboys rumors; and Dan Reeves endorses Johnny in the NFL.

There have been more rumors recently linking Johnny Manziel to the Cowboys, few of which have any footing in reality. This recent spate of rumors started after a TMZ reporter asked Manziel if he wanted to play for the Cowboys. Manziel’s response was “Yeah, Cowboys!” That was it.

Shortly after the TMZ article broke, a website totally unrelated to sports, (“The Gospel Herald“) published a headline claiming: “NFL Rumors: Johnny Manziel To Sign With Dallas Cowboys After Trial; Jerry Jones Welcomes Johnny Football”. (Probably just another example of websites dropping Johnny’s name to get hits and to generate revenue.) #FakeNews #HypingForHits

And as it usually happens, website after website picked up on this bogus “news article” and various sources have continued to publish it in different formats. (Again, knowing full well it’s not legitimate, but likely just hoping for more hits to generate more revenue for their clickbait websites.) Even bogus Johnny news is big news … Especially in the off-season.

But in the midst of all the gossip and rumors, there have been some really great, legitimate quotes from other NFL professionals who would love to see Manziel play for the Cowboys or elsewhere in the NFL.

Former Browns QB Johnny Manziel and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

It is no secret that Jerry Jones has had an affinity for Johnny Manziel since his A&M days, but another Cowboy legend recently expressed his desire to see Johnny succeed in the NFL as well.

Dan Reeves is a legendary NFL player and coach, and he is certainly more than qualified to give an opinion on NFL talent.

Reeves has participated in nine Super Bowls as player and coach, and has nine conference championships (6 NFC, 3 AFC), which is more than anyone else. He played in two Super Bowls (V, VI), was an assistant coach in three more (X, XII, XIII), and was head coach in four: XXI, XXII, and XXIV with the Denver Broncos, and XXXIII with the Atlanta Falcons. Reeves also worked as an analyst covering NFL games.

Reeves told TMZ Sports, “I’d love to see him get that opportunity.”

Reeves believes that Johnny will excel in Dallas or anywhere else in the NFL, once he has a chance to focus on the game.

Reeves said: “No question, I think he would be good for anybody. He’s still gotta learn to walk the walk and talk the talk … but if he can play like he did in college, I don’t see how that would be a bad addition to the team.

“He needs to get his life in order before he thinks about football and he’s had a lot of things going on that have taken his mind from the game … but if he puts all that behind him and has someone to mentor him, I’d love to see him get that chance.”

We would love to see Johnny get that chance as well!
